“The poem, the song, the picture, is only water drawn from the well of the people, and it should be given back to them in a cup of beauty so that they may drink - and in drinking understand themselves.”

- Federico Garcia Lorca

I’m a Nillumbik based drummer, electronic musician, videographer, producer and tutor - hopelessly obsessed with music as a means for exploration, self-expression and connection. The purpose I’ve bound myself to is the creation and presentation of musical & visual works, and to facilitate similarly inspired learning and exploration.

Drumming since 1992, I’ve worked in bands & with recording artists Sparkspitter, Naomi Keyte, Quivers, Open Swimmer & Seagull. Over the years spent recording and touring with these projects I was able to osmose a DIY engineering and production toolbelt, expanding on that knowledge studying Sonic Arts at the Elder Conservatorium in Adelaide before moving to Naarm, Melbourne in 2015.

In 2020 I began a collaborative project with synthesist and composer Fia Fiell to produce music for our live hardware duo ‘Walking Light, and was recently awarded funding from the City of Melbourne to support the creation of solo recorded work for prepared drum-set & electronics under the moniker Draft Echo. 2022 has begun with the foundation of of my freelance videography studio ‘lo_VIS Films’, a restoration service, specializing in vintage Drum sets and tuition services in both drumming & electronic music production.

My tuitional approach has guidance toward goals of technical proficiencies as its key, but offered in the context of attempting to unlock a broader appreciation and developed sense of value for music, its language and community. Access is provided to a broad range of reference & learning materials, collaboration and the opportunity to compose and record; the m.o being to ignite in students a exploration of their creative identity within (and without) the rich heritage of music. Students will hopefully discover their own unique musical identity or ‘voice’ - with which they can fluently speak communally.
